We produce terroir wines, capable of showing the landscapes of Poboleda. Wines that express the place and the vintage where they were born.
Preserve, maintain and care for our old Grenache and Cariñena vines, planted in 1902, on the slopes of llicorella. Organic agriculture and minimal manipulation of the grapes in the cellar. Respect for our environment, its culture and its people are the basic elements we make our wines with. A careful and meticulous process from the selection of the grapes in the vineyard, to the storage of the wine in the French oak barrels. Passion and perseverance in an optimal terroir for the cultivation of the vineyard and the elaboration of singular wines.
Poboleda village
Poboleda is located in the northwestern part of Priorat. It is protected by two natural barriers: Montsant and Molló mountains. This situation allows Poboleda to benefit from the fresh breeze that enters from the northwest. This decrease in temperature means a slower ripening process and, therefore, a later harvest (usually between 10 and 15 days later than in Gratallops).
It is the highest and freshest part of Priorat. In general, the average temperature in Poboleda is 1.5ºC lower than the average of Priorat and the rainfall is 20% higher.
Linked to viticulture for five generations, Mas Doix is a winery created by the Doix and Llagostera families in 1998, resuming the elaboration of wines, started in 1850 and interrupted by phylloxera. The gold medal obtained in the Universal Exhibition of Barcelona in 1888 and the silver medal won in the Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1878, remind us of the passion with which Juan Doix Extrems, Juan Doix’s grandfather, took care of his vineyards and made quality wines. After phylloxera (1902), Garnacha and Carignan were planted again, the production of which was sent to Poboleda’s cooperative, until the production process was reinitiated in 1999 in the winery itself. We continue with the same passion the cultivation of the vineyard and the elaboration of great distinctive wines of our Priorat.
