Enviroment

El Bierzo is a small denomination of origin, located in the northwest of Spain, in the province of León. It is made up of small plots of old Mencía and Godello vineyards. In the area there is a prevalent artisanal and smallholder viticulture.
The predominant soils are, in the valley, poor soils of red clay and, on the slopes, schists of ferrous slate.

Climatically, it is a transition zone between the Galician climate (Atlantic) and the plateau (Continental), thanks to the mountain systems that surround the region, providing an ideal microclimate for vine cultivation.
