We are pleased to announce the incorporation into our association of Alta Alella, an organic family winery located in a privileged setting just a few kilometers from Barcelona.
Founded in 1991, Alta Alella has always maintained a firm commitment to the terroir, the integral elaboration and production of transparent wines that reflect the differentiation of the Alella area. Its vineyards grow on granitic soil known as Sauló and less than 2 km from the Mediterranean, characteristics that give its wines and cavas an exceptional natural acidity.
Alta Alella has passed with flying colors the selection process to join our family of 34 wineries spread throughout Spain. To become a member of GPE, wineries must meet strict admission requirements, including, amongst others, the production of unique wines that represent the terroir, a philosophy of respect for the typicity and origin of the estate, the exclusivity of grapes from their own vineyards, and holding national and international recognitions. In addition, our External Committee of Expert Tasters blind tastes the wines presented and a technical visit is made to the candidate winery by winemakers from our wineries.
“Joining Grandes Pagos de España represents an important achievement for Alta Alella. It is a recognition that reinforces our commitment to quality and authenticity in every bottle we produce,” says Josep Maria Pujol-Busquets, winemaker and founder of the winery. “We are excited to collaborate with other distinguished members and continue to promote the diversity and richness of our territory.”
Alta Alella’s selection in Grandes Pagos
In total six Alta Alella wines and cavas were included in Grandes Pagos de España: Alta Alella 10 2012, Alta Alella Mirgin Opus 2019, Alta Alella Mirgin Exeo 2017, Alta Alella Cau d’en Genís 2022, Alta Alella Lanius 2021 and Alta Alella Dolç Mataró 2020.
