We are proud to announce the celebration of our 20th anniversary with a series of tastings that will take place throughout September and October 2024. These tastings represent a unique opportunity to taste selected wines from a decade ago, allowing attendees to appreciate the evolution of both the wines and the association itself and the wine sector in Spain over the last ten years.
A journey through time and knowledge
These unique tastings feature a selection of emblematic wines made by Grandes Pagos de España wineries in 2014, offering a window into the past and allowing us to explore how they have matured and developed their characteristics over the years. Wines that have been carefully cellared and now show the complexity and depth that only time can bestow. Part of the success is thanks to the Knowledge Network promoted by the association: the regular meetings of the winemakers of its different wineries, experts in their climates, soils and varieties, which is a forum of experiences that undoubtedly improve each of the projects that are part of Grandes Pagos de España.
The importance of aged wines
It is said that the best wine regions are those that produce wines that age well, and the wines of Grandes Pagos de España are a testament to this statement. Although they come from different regions, the wines from our wineries have in common an exceptional ability to age. The “Memorias 2014” tastings will show how these wines have evolved and improved over time.
Reflections on the evolution of the sector
In addition to tasting, these tastings will serve as a forum to discuss the evolution of the wine sector in Spain over the last decade. Oenology experts, winemakers and leading members of the association will share their experiences and perspectives on the significant changes that have marked the industry, from advances in growing and winemaking techniques to trends in the global wine market.
A Commitment to Excellence
Grandes Pagos de España has been, since its foundation, a pillar in the promotion of excellence in Spanish viticulture and enology. Comprised of a select and growing group of wineries committed to producing wines of the highest quality, our association has worked tirelessly to raise the recognition and prestige of Spanish wine internationally. This 20th anniversary is a testament to the association’s ongoing commitment to quality, authenticity and innovation.
The “Memorias 2014” tastings commemorating the 20th anniversary will be held in Madrid on September 18, October 3 and 17 in the classrooms of the Pago de Vallegarcía and Abadía Retuerta wineries in Madrid. Attendance is limited and invitations are required.
