In 1979, Carlos Esteva decided to live on Can Ràfols dels Caus, his grandfather’s estate. Having bought up the parts that had been inherited by his brothers, he began a slow refurbishment of the half-ruined yet still noble estate house at the heart of the lands.

At the same time he began reviving the ancestral vineyards, introducing new varieties and new farming techniques such as trellises, betting on the future viability of estate-grown wines of individual character and creating a brand of now proven quality.

Carlos Esteva became one of the few winemakers who actually lived on his farm, working hard in pursuit of his vinicultural objectives of sustainable agriculture that respected the characteristics of the landscape as well as the architecture on his ancestral lands.
